Abstract

The digital transformation in education requires pedagogical innovation that integrates technology with religious values. This study explores the effectiveness of the interactive game Baamboozle in Hindu Religious Education (HRE) at the elementary level to enhance students’ motivation and conceptual understanding through gamification. Using a descriptive qualitative method, data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation involving five teachers and 150 students in Cakranegara. The findings show a significant increase in student participation (from 37% to 82%) and an improvement in average learning scores (from 72 to 83) after implementing Baamboozle. Teachers played a key role in contextualizing the game content with Hindu values such as Tri Kaya Parisudha and Catur Paramitha, making learning both engaging and reflective. The results align with the Self-Determination Theory and Actionable Gamification Framework, showing that gamification fosters intrinsic motivation and moral awareness. The study contributes to the development of the “Hindu Spiritual Gamification” model, a technology-based learning approach rooted in ethical and spiritual reflection. The findings affirm that gamification can serve as a meaningful pedagogical strategy to enhance motivation and internalize moral values in the digital era.
