Optimalisasi Gerakan Literasi Sekolah Untuk Meningkatkan Minat Baca Pada Materi Panca Yajna Siswa di Kelas V SD Negeri 174 Gunung Sari

Students low interest in reading Hindu Religious Education textbooks is a crucial problem at SD Negeri 174 Gunung Sari. This problem is closely related to the characteristics of books that are less visually appealing and do not match the preferences of elementary school children who like pictorial and story-based reading. This research was written in the discourse of elementary school literacy and religious education, with the aim of examining the effectiveness of the School Literacy Movement (GLS) optimisation strategy in increasing students reading interest in Panca Yajna material. The study used a classroom action research approach in two cycles, involving 15 grade V students as subjects. Data were collected through reading interest questionnaires, observation sheets, and visual documentation, then analysed descriptively. The results showed a significant increase in all reading interest indicators after the implementation of the pictorial media-based literacy strategy and Hindu contextual narrative. The main contribution of this paper is to extend the practice of GLS to religious thematic learning which has received less attention in primary school literacy studies. The findings are important because they show that a visually and contextually tailored literacy approach can not only increase reading interest, but also strengthen students understanding of Hindu religious values in a meaningful way.
