Abstract

This research is directed to get a description of the process of applying the Problem Based Learning learning model in improving the learning outcomes of class VIII students at SMP Negeri 1 Mataram. Because in the learning process the accuracy of the selection of learning models greatly affects the final results of students. The formulation of the problems in this study are 1) how is the process of applying the Problem Based Learning learning model in improving the learning outcomes of grade VIII students in Hinduism and Budi Pekerti subjects at SMP Negeri 1 Mataram. 2) What are the obstacles faced in the application of learning models in improving the learning outcomes of class VIII students in Hinduism and Budi Pekerti subjects at SMP Negeri 1 Mataram. The purpose of this study is to provide an overview of the process of implementing Problem Based Learning and to determine the improvement of learning outcomes of class VIII students in Hinduism and Budi Pekerti subjects at SMP Negeri 1 Mataram. The research method used in this research is qualitative research method. The research location is SMP Negeri 1 Mataram. The theories used in this research are Vgotsky s Constructivism Theory and Jhon Dewey s Theory. The data collection techniques used are observation, interview and documentation. The results of this study indicate that the application of the Problem Based Learning learning model has a positive effect on improving the learning outcomes of class VIII students in Hinduism subjects at SMP Negeri 1 Mataram. The conclusion of this study is that student learning outcomes have increased every evaluation or every semester due to applying the Problem Based Learning learning model.
