Abstract

Low learning activity in learning Hindu religious education is a challenge at SMKN 1 Luwu Utara, especially in delivering value-based material such as the Ramayana story. This article aims to describe and analyze the effectiveness of the role-playing learning method as an active strategy in increasing student engagement while exploring the noble values of the Ramayana story. This study used a quantitative approach with a one-group pretest-posttest design on eight grade X and XI students, supported by observation instruments and descriptive statistical analysis and paired sample t-test. The hypothesis proposed is that the role-playing method can significantly increase students  learning activities. The results showed a significant increase in learning activity scores, as well as changes in learning behavior that are more reflective and collaborative. Students are not only physically active in learning but also able to reflect the values of dharma, loyalty, and leadership through dramatic roles. This article contributes to the development of value-based learning models and active participation in the context of Hindu religious education. The findings confirm the urgency of innovating teaching methods that touch on students  cognitive, affective, and spiritual dimensions and are relevant enough to be applied in various character-based learning contexts.
