This study stems from the problem of weak academic career guidance programme management in secondary schools, particularly in preparing students for higher education. In the context of education in non-urban areas, such as Buin Batu Sumbawa Barat High School, career guidance services are not yet structured and integrated into the school's managerial system. The objective of this study is to describe and analyse the management of academic career guidance programmes to enhance the readiness of Grade XII students for university admission selection. This study employs a qualitative approach using a case study method, involving the school principal, career counselling teachers, class advisors, and students as subjects, and relies on in-depth interviews, observations, and document analysis. The findings indicate that all components of management—planning, implementation, and evaluation—are still not functioning optimally, which impacts the low effectiveness of services and the clarity of students' career directions. This article contributes to strengthening research on educational management and career guidance services by offering a contextual analysis that can be replicated in areas with similar characteristics. The research findings emphasise the importance of reformulating career guidance programmes based on needs, involving multiple stakeholders, and integrating technology to support students' career readiness in a more systematic and sustainable manner.
