Penguatan Perkembangan Sosial Anak Usia Dini Melalui Aktivitas Bermain Lego Berbasis Kolaboratif

Abstract

Early childhood social development in posyandu settings remains suboptimal, as reflected in children’s tendency toward solitary play, limited communication, and low cooperation and conflict resolution skills. This study aims to describe children’s social development through LEGO play activities at Taman Posyandu Melati Glinggangan, focusing on cooperation, social communication, empathy, and conflict resolution. This research employs a qualitative case study approach. The subjects are children aged 4–5 years, with parents and posyandu cadres as supporting informants. Data were collected through participatory observation, interviews, and documentation, and analyzed using the Miles and Huberman interactive model. The findings indicate that LEGO play activities enhance children’s social development, shown by a transition from solitary to cooperative play, improved communication from nonverbal to more complex verbal forms, the emergence of empathetic behaviors such as sharing and helping, and better conflict resolution through negotiation and collaboration. These outcomes are supported by the open-ended nature of LEGO and the facilitatory role of cadres (scaffolding), despite challenges such as limited materials and less conducive environments. This study contributes to community-based early childhood education by demonstrating that constructive play is an effective strategy for fostering children’s social development.
