This research examines the role of family education in the preservation of Maliq values in the Sasak-Buddhist community in Mareje Village, West Lombok. The focus of this research is how local cultural values that regulate behaviour in Sasak society can be integrated with moral teachings in Buddhism, especially the precepts of Sila. The research methods used are in-depth interviews, observation, and literature study relevant to the research topic. The hypothesis proposed is that the integration between Maliq values and Buddhist teachings can strengthen the moral character of Sasak-Buddhist children. The findings of this study indicate a gap between traditional Maliq values and outside cultural influences, although the practice of family education in Buddhism is still carried out. The contribution of this research is to enrich the understanding of the importance of local culture-based education in the family education system, as well as providing insights for the preservation of traditional values in the era of globalisation. The results of this study are important for raising awareness about the importance of maintaining local cultural heritage while keeping abreast of spiritual and moral development in family education.
