This research was motivated by the low level of children’s language politeness skills at TK Pembina Guguak Nagari Simpang Sugiran. Most children were not accustomed to using polite expressions such as saying “please”, “thank you”, “sorry”, greetings when taking leave, and speaking gently in daily interactions. This study aimed to improve children’s language politeness through the story reading method. The research employed Classroom Action Research (CAR) using the Kemmis and McTaggart model, which consists of four stages: planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. The subjects were 20 children in Group B at TK Pembina Guguak Nagari Simpang Sugiran. The study was conducted over three cycles. Data was collected through observation using an assessment sheet for children’s language politeness development. Data analysis used descriptive quantitative techniques by calculating the percentage of developmental achievement in each cycle. The results showed that the application of the story reading method effectively improved children’s language politeness. At the initial condition (pretest), only 5% of children achieved the “Very Good Development” category. No significant increase was observed in Cycle I, with the percentage remaining at 5%. It then rose to 41% in Cycle II and reached 82% in Cycle III. Improvement was seen across all indicators: using expressions of gratitude, requests, apologies, farewell greetings, and speaking in a gentle manner. It can be concluded that the story reading method is effective for enhancing language politeness among children at TK Pembina Guguak Nagari Simpang Sugiran. This method can serve as an alternative learning approach to develop language skills while instilling polite values in early childhood.
