Urgensi Guru Dalam Membangun Karakter Anak Usia 5-6 Tahun Di TK Kumara Asih

This research is within the discipline area of Early Childhood Education (ECE) with a focus on the urgency of the teacher's role in shaping the character of children aged 5-6 years in Hindu-based educational institutions. The background of this research departs from the gap between teachers' understanding of the importance of character education and the limited implementation of planned and structured learning strategies. The purpose of the study was to analyse in depth the role of teachers, the strategies used, and the challenges faced in instilling character values such as independence, responsibility, and honesty. This study used a qualitative approach with descriptive methods through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation at Kumara Asih Kindergarten. The results showed that character building has not been an integrated part of the lesson plans and daily learning activities, and still relies on the spontaneous exemplification of teachers. An important finding of this study is the need to systematically integrate Hindu values such as satya, dharma, and ahimsa into character learning strategies. This research contributes to the development of theory and practice of character education based on local spirituality. In conclusion, character building in PAUD will be more effective if teachers are equipped with learning strategies based on religious and cultural values contextually and consistently.
